The darbuka is part of the goblet drum family, just like the doumbek and the popular djembe. Darbukas are made of aluminium, a material that has excellent tonal properties. The rims hardly stick out, so that they don't get in your why while you're playing, and allowing the drum to rest comfortably on your leg. The HE-104 darbuka has an 8-inch synthetic drumhead with a Meinl logo, that makes it easy to produce those sharp 'tak' sounds. Meanwhile, the 14.5-inch-deep shell contributes to the darbuka's deep 'dooms'. Thanks to the synthetic drumhead and the aluminium shell, this instrument is highly weather-resistant, making it ideal for use both indoors and outdoors. It's also ideal to transport, as it is very compact. The darbuka comes with a tuning key.
